How long does a bar of Just Soap last?
Posted by D Marie Stanton on

On 24th October I weighed this bar of soap. This is one we use at home. Exactly the same recipe as the ones on sale, just a different shape. It came out at 106g.
This bar was used at home in the kitchen and we are quite heavy users - say 10 or more washes per day. Plus there's the odd hand wash for the kids and now and again the kitchen scrubber gets a wipe over it to clean the frying pan. So a lot of use!
Today its got to the point where you can't really get a good hand wash out of it, so it was weighed again. It wouldn't register on the kitchen scales - so less than 1g.
That's a total of 33 days!! Over a month!
Then theres the personal and ecological cost.
Washing my hands that many times a day before using my own soap my hands were sore, cracked and bleeding. Not any more! The ingredients in all our soaps leaves my hands feeling soft and nourished - not stripped and dry. And when you wash it down the sink you can be safe in the knowledge that there are no nasty ingredients doing unspeakable things to our waterways and environment.
p.s. that tiny slither of soap will be saved and go into a soap saver bag (purchase here) with all the other ends collected, and used in the shower (or you can attach it to the next bar of soap and carry on washing) - so no waste either!
